Michigan City Marquette held off match point in the fourth game before rallying today to defeat Loogootee in the final game and win the I-H-S-A-A Class A state volleyball championship.
Michigan City won its third straight title and sixth in eight years by outlasting Loogootee 22-to-25, 25-to-20, 20-to-25, 26-to-24 and 15-to-8 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

The outside hitter fired five consecutive kills as Michigan City took an 11-to-8 lead. Loogootee rallied to take a 24-to-22 lead in the fourth game and served for the match, but Michigan City scored the final four points to force the 15-point finale.
