After losing the first two games to Mishawaka Marian, Roncalli rallied tonight to win the last three games and the I-H-S-A-A Class 3-A state volleyball championship.
Marian bested Roncalli 25-to-21 and 32-to-30 in the first two games, but the Rebels won the last three games, 25-to-22, 25-to-16 and 15-to-9. It's Roncalli's third state title.
Roncalli built an early lead in Game 4 and maintained it, then broke from a 9-to-8 lead to score six of the last seven points of the fifth game.
Senior setter Paige Webber led the balanced Roncalli attack with 40 assists, notched 15 digs, registered 11 kills. Roncalli won its last 23 matches to finish 32-and-5.
