See this big board of buttons? It's called 'the video switcher', and the technical director is the person responsible for pushing all the right buttons at the right time to show you everything you see during the newscast. The switcher is connected to all of the cameras, all of the videotape machines, all of the satellite transmissions, and all of the graphics and 'special effects' machines that are used during the show. When the director asks for a graphic or a live shot or both at the same time, the technical director punches them in. Technically speaking, it's pretty cool!
